IBES personnel can provide an evaluation of the house building envelope, which involves a blower door test to measure the leakage rate of the house and an infrared scan to identify the locations of the air leaks, thermal bridging, and areas of missing or insufficient insulation. The infrared scan can also identify areas that are moist and damp, which could potentially leak to mold growth or other durability related issues. After the evaluation is completed, the homeowner will be provided with a written report of the results, with the locations of any observed issues identified. The report will also contain recommendations and suggestions on how to make their house more airtight and energy efficient.
Additional services can be provided in addition to the standard home inspection, which include water penetration testing of windows and doors, individual room or window airtightness testing, and locating hot water lines (domestic or hydronic).
